Truth and Reconcilation Activity from START/UNH
Are you a young adult with a developmental disability and mental health condition (IDD- MH)? Are you a family member of a young adult with IDD-MH? Connectivity Kits at Texas Center for Disability Studies
The Texas Technology Access Program, within the Texas Center for Disability Studies at the University of Texas at Austin collaborated with the local Aging and Disability Resource Center (Capital Area Council of Governments) to assemble connectivity kits for persons with disabilities, older adults, and their caregivers. The intent is to reduce isolation while connecting people to their community and to telemedicine.

Dr. Emily Graybill becomes new Director of Georgia UCEDD, Center for Leadership in Disability
Emily Graybill, PhD, has been a faculty member at the Center for Leadership in Disability (CLD) at Georgia State University (GSU) since 2011. During that time, she has led impactful work that has strengthened Georgia's systems of care for children, adults, and families living with disabilities. Dr. Graybill transitioned into the role of Director on June 1st of this year following the retirement of CLD's founding Director.

Dr. Jennifer Walton elected to the Executive Committee of the Section on Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics of the American Academy of Pediatrics
Jennifer Walton, MD, MPH from the Ohio State University Nisonger Center was elected to the Executive Committee of the Section on Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Term to begin November 1st.

Meet Members of Georgetown University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Advisory Council
The Georgetown University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (GUCEDD) is highlighting members of its Advisory Council (GAC) through a series of videos. The three newest members to participate are Wilma Elen, a parent of a person with an intellectual/developmental disability (IDD); Rebecca Salon an advisor to Project ACTION! and a representative from the State Office on Policy, Planning, and Innovation for the District of Columbia's Department on Disability Services; and Robert Kennedy, a member of Project ACTION!, an advocate, and a person with the lived experience of developmental disability.

MI-DDI and FEMA Flood Disaster Speakers Panel
Michigan Developmental Disabilities Institute (MI-DDI) joined the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to host a webinar featuring several speakers from FEMA on August 25, 2021. The session focused on resources and aid available to Michiganders affected by the severe storms and floods of June 2021. The Ohio State University Nisonger Center Next Chapter Book Club Updates
Each of the 11 Next Chapter Book Clubs in central Ohio, which had been meeting virtually for the past year, voted in July to either return to in-person meetings, remain virtual, or create a hybrid schedule. Seven clubs eagerly chose to begin meeting in-person again, and members and facilitators in these clubs have been greatly enjoying the chance to be together.

Vanderbilt Kennedy Center UCEDD Co-director Aims to Expand Inclusive Higher Education in the U.S. Through Accreditation Committee Work
Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (TN IDDRC, UEDD, LEND) UCEDD co-director Elise McMillan, J.D., recently served on a national workgroup of experts to develop model program accreditation standards for inclusive higher education (IHE) programs for students with intellectual disabilities. The 2021 Think College! National Coordinating Center Accreditation Workgroup wrapped up its work with the recent release of its latest five-year report.

New Hawk-IDDRC in Iowa
The University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD) and the Iowa Neuroscience Institute (INI) are joining forces with other researchers, clinicians, physicians, and scientists across the UI enterprise to form a new center aimed at advancing care for Iowans with IDDs. The center will be funded over 5 years by a $6.2 million dollar grant from the National Institutes of Health. The new center, dubbed Hawkeye Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center, or Hawk-IDDRC, will partner with CDD to integrate clinical care, teaching, and community outreach using a unique model found at only a handful of other health care institutions in the country.

Nisonger Center & AUCD Professional Fellows Win U.S. State Department Award
The U.S. Department of State has awarded a $32,000 AEIF grant to AUCD Professional Fellows alumni and a Nisonger Center team led by Dr. Margo Izzo and Dr. Paula Rabidoux. The AEIF award (U.S. Department of State Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund) will sponsor the expansion of an online inclusive education & employment training partnership that connects Ohio LEND faculty, staff, and trainees to teachers in Tanzania's schools.

Summer Enrichment Academy 2021: It's Time to Find the Superhero in You
When you think of summertime, you probably think of taking vacations, soaking up the sun, spending time with family and friends, and having time away from school. In Mississippi, 22 youth and young adult students with disabilities chose to make their summer a work learning experience instead. These students attended the ToTAL (Transition of Teens to Adult Life) 2021 Summer Enrichment Academy.

The Ohio State University Nisonger Center at Wexner Medical Center welcomes Ashley Byrd, MD, psychiatrist. Dr. Byrd is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in The Ohio State University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.

Trainee Voice: What I Learned in LEND by Victoria Murray
In May 2021, the Hawaii MCH LEND Program congratulated 22 long term trainees on their successful completion of the Program. At the final training session, trainee Victoria Murray (Discipline: Self-Advocacy) shared a beautiful poem with the cohort that captured what she learned in the Program. UNH Approved for $4.86 Million in Research Funding for Study of Telehealth Services on Mental Health Outcomes for People with IDD
Research associate professor Joan B. Beasley and a research team from the Center for START Services at the Institute on Disability (IOD) at UNH has been approved for a $4.86 million funding award by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) for their study: Evaluation of Telehealth Services on Mental Health Outcomes for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The project will include partners from the University of Florida and Johns Hopkins Kennedy Krieger Institute
